Easy Peasey Choccy Fudgey

I'm a baaaaaack. Well, for how long I do not know, but I am aiming to get back into this and start posting some GLORIOUS eats with you again.

So why not start with a bang and some fantabulous chocolate fudge?! I have to say I cannot take any credit for this recipe - it comes originally via Carnation (https://www.carnation.co.uk/Recipes/64/Easy-Chocolate-Fudge).....but I will say it's one of the easiest fudge recipes ever. And it's bloody delicious!

So every year at Christmas it's kind of a family tradition to do some Christmas baking to share with friends/family. Having very little time on my hands recently to get stuck into proper baking I decided I would try making a new fudge recipe. I had a weekly group coming up at work and I wanted to provide the folks with some treats, I also had our annual ball hockey Christmas Do and so I thought well why not go all out??!

3 Delicious Dishes

So it's been a long time since I've posted, no really good excuses to give for not posting and lots of great treats were had!

Justin and I have just recently returned from Canada, from getting married, which will have a post of its own soon because I have been dying to post the wedding cake recipe for months now!!

But for now, I have one main dish and two dessert treats to share with you!!

The first recipe is a simple and delicious recipe that we picked up for free from Waitrose. They have these great recipes cards that you can pick up in the shop and they are usually relatively simple and easy enough to make!

Epic Post 2013

So I'm a baaaaad blogger......it's been a while....a sad long while! Especially since one of the last times I blogged I promised I would be back to it and well.... epic fail.... so I have a lot of time to make up for!

I will try to blog a bit more and I will try to get back into being more creative with my cooking and baking. I realise I let this go last year when I became busier with work, and although I did make some fab food, and cook some new recipes I failed to share the delightfulness with you lovely folk!

So to make up for it here is some of what happened between the last post and now...I'll post the recipes if I can find or remember them otherwise please enjoy the drool-worthy photos below! (also I wrote this blog mostly while watching Flight of the Navigator!!)

Justin's Chocolate Chunk Muffins (from scratch!)

So today I get to post about something someone else made in my kitchen! Justin!

For those of you who know Justin, he's not really famed for his love of cooking (hot dogs, tacos), but he has always had an interest in baking. Why you ask? Because it's almost always done all at the same time (not much multi-tasking required), but also because it's exact, an exact science.

He's been prompted by our friend Stephan's newly found joy in baking and I think this gave him the motivation he needed to try it himself!

Pretzel Tree Bark

Well hellooooo! A quiet Sunday on the Daly-Presseau front! I was a little bored and staring at the huge bag of pretzels Justin bought at the Polish deli yesterday and thought...hmmm what can I do with those.....

Then I came up with Pretzel Tree Bark! I love making chocolate bark concoctions, they are such an easy way to make a plain bar of baking chocolate come to life! So I rifled through my baking cupboard and found some pecans (I always have some sort of nut laying around!) and a bar and a half of plain chocolate (semi-sweet for my Canadian friends!).

What you'll need:
bar and half of plain chocolate (I also threw in a child-size handful of milk chocolate chips)
2/3 cup of chopped pecans
1 cup of broken up pretzel pieces

Put on that Bikini and eat some cookies

Back to baking!

Inspired by my recent travels back to Canada and an upcoming visit by friends I decided to bake today. A little rusty at it all, and forgot to take some pictures of the first recipe until I was almost done, but got the finished product which matters most!

I've also used a new photo editing technique, let me know if you like it!

I was inspired by a baking treat that Justin's dad always makes. Bikini Bars. I have NO idea why they are called as such since the certainly don't improve your bikini figure considering they're made with sweet condensed milk, coconut and chocolate, but they're darn tasty! So I found a recipe online and altered it a wee bitty.

Birthday Brownie Pecan Pie

Can someone tell me if it's a sign of a good cook, or a bad one that I've already burned my hand twice on the oven this week??? Or maybe just an overzealous, not paying particular attention to the oven cook? You be the judge!

It's been a while, I know, but with my birthday coming up tomorrow I decided to do some baking and make myself this yummy recipe that I found on Bakeralla.

So here it goes!  Check out the recipe below. I also didn't have frozen pie shells so I just used the sweet pastry cases off the shelf.

pistachio and dark chocolate krispies, mmmmm

An old childhood favourite, jazzed up.

Ingredients:
butter
rice krispies (or in this case, the no name version 'rice crackles')
marshmallows
dark chocolate, melted
crushed/chopped pistachios

1) Melt some butter in a large pot over medium heat.

2) Throw the marshmallows in the pot once the butter starts to melt and stir and stir and stir until the marshmallows are smooth.

3) Throw in the rice krispies and mix until it looks even.

4) Grease a dish and put the marshmallow mixture in.

5) Once it's smooth and even in the pan, melt the chocolate and pour over the top evenly. (*tip* for  glossy look to the chocolate melt within it a small knob of butter)

6) Sprinkle the chopped pistachios over the melted chocolate and leave to solidify.

7) EAAAAT this deliciousness!!!
